About Offset Audio
Welcome to Offset Audio—a practical, low-stress, no-nonsense corner of the internet built for real people dealing with real-world listening quirks.
Who Is Behind This?
I’m an audio enthusiast and engineering team lead with over 25 years of experience in video and digital audio production.
Back in the home-studio explosion, I built out a dedicated 256-track digital setup packed with Roland MIDI gear and an x86 companion rig. I played every instrument (with guitar being my absolute favorite), recorded vocals, edited, punched in, mixed, and mastered my own work. I released two full albums that sold a grand total of two copies—and yes, I bought both of them myself.
While my commercial music career wasn't shattering sales records, those decades spent wrestling with EQ curves, gain staging, and signal processing gave me a deep, fundamental understanding of how digital audio actually works.
Why Offset Audio Exists
What happens when a lifelong audio engineer reaches age 60 and ends up with asymmetric hearing loss—specifically, a pooched right ear courtesy of a fiery guitar solo and a Marshall stack?
You adapt.
Most audio blogs cater to audiophiles with pristine hearing and bottomless bank accounts, reviewing $1,200 oxygen-free copper cables and flat-reference monitors. But when your ears don't hear frequencies evenly, "flat" out-of-the-box sound is unlistenable.
Offset Audio is here to strip away the elitism and hype. Here, we focus on:
Practical smartphone and desktop accessibility settings.
Balance and EQ workarounds for asymmetrical and single-sided hearing.
Honest comparisons between consumer tech, Over-The-Counter (OTC) hearing aids, and everyday gear.
Real-world audio hacks that don't break the bank.
No snobbery, no fluff—just real audio insight from someone who knows the math, knows the gear, and isn't afraid to admit he bought his own albums.
